Rick Stoff, a past-president of Press Club and currently serving on its advisory council, has been released from Mercy after emergency surgery and rehabilitation, (Rick was badly injured when he fell from his roof, broke his back, cracked several ribs, injured his knee, and suffered a concussion).
Rick is confined to a wheelchair right now, and will continue to undergo therapy for the next four-to-six months. During that time, his bills will continue to mount, so we’ve been advised that a fund-raising event has been organized to help defray medical and other expenses. It will be at Schlafly’s Tap Room, 2100 Locust Street, from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, July 15. Invitees include family members, Old Globers, many of his clients and former clients, members of the Press Club, the St. Louis Media History Foundation, the SPJ, and many other friends. You may wish to make a donation and enjoy a drink with friends (cash bar). I understand the restaurant also has a great menu, if you’d like to order dinner. Rick will not be able to attend, but he will get to enjoy the photos and videos of the gathering.
Donations can be made in cash or check, the latter made out to “Rick Stoff,” or checks can be mailed to Rick. He is living at 1143 Castle Gate Drive, Olivette, MO 63132 during his recuperation.
